A track from the 1972 CBS stereophonic vinyl LP, "Andre Kostelanetz Plays Great Hits Of Today". Kostelanetz died in 1980 - thirty years ago - but his wonderful arrangements continue to be enjoyed the world over. For the technically-minded:- The vinyl was played on a Garrard Zero-100 tangential turntable utilising a Shure M7OBX magnetic cartridge. The analogue signal was then input via a NAD PP3 USB Preamp to my HP Pavilion laptop running Windows XP. The sound was recorded as a WAV file using VinylStudio and then converted to an MP3 using GoldWave editing suite. The final MP4 file was created with VideoPad video editor before uploading to You Tube. Other music files that I have recorded from various obscure 1960's and 1970's vinyl LP's may be found here by searching for 'hcrun'.

Funky as in good, obviously. Anything that band puts out is stunning. Prior to the encounter, Mayhem Miller claimed Nick Diaz's 'hood' antics were getting old and he felt that he needed to 'mature.' Miller then called out Nick Diaz to a superfight middleweight bout. It was now time for Nick to make his move, so he accepted the challenge but only at a catchweight between middleweight and welterweight. Mayhem Miller claimed he couldn't cut anymore to make the catchweight and then stated it would be easier for Nick to put on a few pounds. Nick Diaz, being the Strikeforce welterweight champion at the time, proclaimed that it was ridiculous that a guy who he felt was 'irrelevant' was essentially trying to talk his way into a fight 'he didn't deserve.' I love them even more after I met them! :) After that, I walked over to my friends and we all decided to meet the Wonder Girls even though we aren't too big of fans. Well, once again, Value Village has come through for me. I went by there on my lunch break at school and I came across yet another cheap old-school computer. This time for only ! This is a Packard Bell 884 from circa 1998. It has a 4GB hard drive, 128MB RAM (I replaced it with 64MB and put the 128MB in my HP Pavilion) and Windows 98 First Edition (replaced it with Windows 95 after video was shot). Keep in mind that by 1998, Packard Bell was not making computers like they were in the mid '90s, when my original Packard Bell and my current Packard Bell Legend 1510 Supreme were made. By the Windows 98 era, Packard Bell had minimized into more of a standard, low-key computer company. The company pulled out of the United States market in 2000 and hasn't returned since. This computer I bought today is a perfect example of a Windows 98 era Packard Bell.

If you've watched any of my Tech Shakedown videos here on ZDNet, you'd know that I've been asking viewers to let me know if they know of a breakdown that needs to be the subject of a Tech Shakedown. In cases where suggestions like these come from ZDNet's audience members (and I have been getting them, thank you!), I do have to check them out. Well, this one definitely checked out. A couple of weeks ago, Andrés, an engineer that reads ZDNet wrote the following to me via e-mail: Lately HP brought on the market a series of pavilion notebooks that where on high demand because of their all in one features. But it seems that there's been a cover-up on the reliability of their performance. A lot of costumers who bought their notebooks are currently experiencing the same problem two major problems with their systems. How does Andres know about these other customers? Well, since June 2007, they've been flooding HP's Web site with complaints about how their Pavilion notebook computers are randomly losing any sense of the fact that they have wireless adapters in them (which in turn causes a loss of productivity). This review and unboxing video simply shows the TX2-1340ea and then I come to my conclusion as to what I think of this notebook PC. Please note, this is a very special notebook in the sense that it is a convertible tablet PC, making it one of the most versatile notebooks on the market. I personally prefer this to the later TM2 which does not feature an optical drive, despite being newer. The TM2 was also actually cheaper than the TX2 when I purchased my TX2 by £100. The TX2 when this video was made was priced at £799.99 at its best deal brand new. I made a small mistake by mentioning the keyboard as an island style keyboard which in fact it is not. So sorry about that.
